Description

Join us on Monday 9th November 2026 for a day of lectures on Orofacial Pain with Professor Tara Renton.

The course will be held in the Percy Roberts and Aesculapius Rooms, Gordon Museum, Hodgkin Building, Guy’s Campus, London, SE1 1UL.

Throughout the day, Professor Renton will focus on orofacial pain that can mimic endodontic pain, including what to treat and, importantly, what to avoid.

We often learn about microorganisms, disinfection and obturation in endodontics; however, the diagnosis of odontogenic and non-odontogenic pain is often overlooked.

Accurate diagnosis is essential in endodontics and is the cornerstone of effective treatment. Poor diagnosis can lead to treatment failure or inappropriate treatment, a breakdown in patient trust, litigation, and, most importantly, potentially serious consequences for the patient.

This course will provide valuable insight into recognising and managing orofacial pain, helping clinicians improve their diagnostic skills and ensure appropriate treatment decisions.

Join us for an insightful day with Professor Tara Renton, exploring the complexities of orofacial pain and developing the skills needed to improve diagnosis, avoid inappropriate treatment and ultimately achieve better outcomes for our patients.

Professor Renton is world renowned in oral surgery and orofacial pain;she was involved with a highly influential group of clinicians in developing the new international classification of orofacial pain and an article published in the JOE in 2021, on OFP and what is in it for Endodontists.

Professor Renton completed her dentistry at Guys (1984), Oral and Maxillofacial surgical training in Melbourne (1991), undertook a PhD in Trigeminal Nerve injury at KCL (1999-2003).
