The philosophy

Beyond retrieval

Most courses teach you how to remove a separated file. This one teaches you whether you should.

The objective isn’t to remove every fractured instrument. It is to choose the right treatment for the tooth.

  1. Retrieve

When the fragment is accessible and removal won’t cost the tooth its strength. Staged access, ultrasonic troughing and the right retrieval system.

  2. Bypass

When a path exists alongside the fragment. Negotiate past it, clean and shape to length, and incorporate it into the obturation.

  3. Retain

When removal would do more harm than leaving it. Disinfect and seal coronal to the fragment, and monitor.

  4. Surgery

When the fragment can’t be reached or bypassed and the tooth should be kept. Recognise the case early and plan an apical approach.

  5. Reimplantation

When surgical access is limited. Know the indications for intentional reimplantation and when to choose it.

From decision to execution — you will leave knowing which pathway to take, and how to carry it out safely.

The format

Your own microscope. Your own ultrasonics. All day.

Places are limited to ten so that every delegate spends the day working, not watching. Each technique is demonstrated live under the microscope, then practised at your own station with direct feedback from Dr Flynn.

Fractured instrument management in specialist practice

From specialist practice

Real cases. Real decisions.

Every technique on the course comes from cases managed in specialist referral practice. You will see how each decision was made — when to retrieve, when to bypass, and when leaving the fragment was the right call for the tooth.
