The Cerkamed BTR Pen is a stainless-steel broken instrument removal system designed to help retrieve separated endodontic instruments from the root canal. Used with compatible nitinol loop tips, it allows the clinician to engage, grip and remove broken file fragments as part of a controlled retreatment workflow.

Fine nitinol loop access

Used alongside ultrasonic preparation
In many broken instrument cases, ultrasonic tips are first used to expose and loosen the coronal portion of the fragment. The BTR loop can then be positioned around the fragment to create a controlled grip for retrieval.
Dentine preservation is important. Excessive staging or ultrasonic use can weaken the root, so the retrieval approach should be carefully planned.

The stainless-steel BTR Pen is designed for multiple use, while compatible nitinol loop tips are single-use. Inspect the instrument before each use for contamination, cracks, bends, splits, scratches or other damage.
BTR tips are supplied non-sterile and must be sterilised before use. Sterilise the tip without the protective cup and follow the manufacturer's instructions and autoclave guidance.
Avoid excessive dentine removal, excessive ultrasonic staging or uncontrolled force during retrieval, as these can increase the risk of ledging, perforation, transportation or root weakening.
