Who this course is for

For dentists seeking a more predictable approach to maxillary molar endodontics.

Suitable for GDC-registered general dentists, dentists with a special interest in endodontics, and clinicians who want greater confidence and consistency. Previous endodontic and microscope experience is helpful, but not mandatory.

Precision changes outcomes

Finding MB2 should not depend on luck. It should follow a deliberate sequence of assessment, access, visualisation and negotiation.

Combine anatomical understanding, CBCT interpretation, magnification and carefully selected instruments with extensive microscope-based practice. Once the canals have been negotiated, explore fluid dynamics, irrigation activation and the obturation of complex canal systems.

You will leave with a clear template for locating, negotiating, irrigating and obturating MB2 anatomy, and a precise understanding of the instruments required at each stage.

What you will learn

From anatomy to a reproducible clinical protocol

01 · Understand

Read the anatomy

MB2 anatomy, prevalence and variation, and the landmarks that guide a purposeful search.

02 · Plan

Use CBCT intelligently

Incorporate cone beam CT into assessment and planning to anticipate anatomy before access.

03 · Locate

Access with control

Use magnification, illumination, access burs and specialised ultrasonics to locate calcified and obstructed canal orifices.

04 · Negotiate

Work efficiently

Practical strategies using endo tracer burs, D-finders, Mani Super Files and Toothsaver files.

05 · Prepare

Create the glide path

Manual, rotary and reciprocating approaches to safe, controlled glide-path preparation.

06 · Irrigate

Move fluids dynamically

Understand fluid dynamics and activate irrigants throughout complex MB2 anatomy.

07 · Obturate

Fill complex systems

Discuss obturation strategies for negotiated MB2 canals and communicating anatomy.

08 · Repeat

Build your protocol

Bring every stage together in a reliable template for your own clinical practice.

The day · Programme

Theory, then deliberate practice

  • Understanding MB2 Anatomy, prevalence, variations and clinical significance.
  • CBCT and treatment planning Reading the scan, anticipating anatomy and planning a controlled access.
  • Access and location Microscope-based access, visual landmarks, burs, ultrasonics and canal-orifice location.
  • Lunch Provided for all delegates.
  • Negotiation and glide path Scouting, instrument selection, pre-curving and manual, rotary and reciprocating techniques.
  • Fluid dynamics and irrigation activation How irrigants move, how activation changes their behaviour and how to reach complex anatomy.
  • Obturation of complex systems Strategies for filling negotiated MB2 canals and managing communicating anatomy.
  • Your predictable MB2 protocol Consolidate the workflow, instrument sequence and decision points.
  • Close and certificates Questions, course close and certificate issue.

Hands-on training

One microscope for every delegate

Every delegate works at their own operating microscope and receives 3D-printed teeth for practical training. Instruments available for supervised use include:

  • Specialised ultrasonic tips
  • Endo tracer burs
  • Mani Super Files
  • Toothsaver files
  • D-finders
  • Rotary glide-path instruments
  • Reciprocating glide-path instruments
  • Irrigation-activation equipment

What to bring

Train on real anatomy

Every delegate should ideally bring previously extracted and accessed maxillary molar teeth. Practical sessions combine these natural teeth with the 3D-printed teeth supplied to each delegate. Guidance on preparation, storage and transport will be sent before the course.
