Woodpecker electric obturation injector

Woodpecker Fi-E Electric Obturation Injector for Warm Gutta-Percha Backfill

The Woodpecker Fi-E is a cordless electric obturation injector designed for controlled warm gutta-percha backfill during root canal treatment. With adjustable temperature settings, three injection speeds, a 360° rotatable injection needle, dual-button operation and two 2000 mAh batteries, it provides a practical backfill solution for warm vertical and injectable obturation workflows.

Woodpecker Fi-E 100°C–200°C temperature range 3 injection speeds 360° rotatable needle 2 × 2000 mAh batteries 4 tips included

Controlled warm gutta-percha injection

The Fi-E is designed to heat and inject gutta-percha for backfilling root canals. Temperature can be adjusted from 100°C to 200°C, giving clinicians flexibility depending on material, technique and clinical preference.

  • Electric injection of gutta-percha
  • Temperature range from 100°C to 200°C
  • Designed for controlled backfill obturation
  • Uniform GP filling
  • Suitable for warm obturation workflows

Three injection speeds for clinical control

The Fi-E has three injection speeds, allowing the clinician to adjust the rate of gutta-percha delivery. This helps support controlled placement in different canal shapes and obturation situations.

  • Slow, medium and fast injection options
  • Useful for different canal sizes
  • Helps control GP delivery
  • Reduces reliance on hand-pressure injection
  • Designed to improve backfill consistency

Toothsaver clinical view

Warm obturation is technique-sensitive, so the device needs to feel predictable. The Fi-E is useful because it combines controlled temperature, adjustable injection speed and a rotatable needle in a cordless handpiece.

It is particularly relevant for clinicians who already use a downpack device such as the Woodpecker Fi-P and want a matching electric injector for the backfill phase. Personally we prefer the Fi-G to the Fi-E.

Temperature range Adjustable from 100°C to 200°C for flexible warm gutta-percha delivery.
Injection speeds Three injection speeds available for controlled GP placement.
Needle design 360° rotatable injection needle to improve reach and access during obturation.
Battery system Two 2000 mAh batteries supplied for longer clinical use and fast battery replacement.
Standby time Standby time can be adjusted from 5 to 10 minutes.
Included tips The Fi-E comes with 4 free tips for the obturation injector.

Key clinical features

100°C–200°C temperature control

Best for: Adjusting GP flow for different obturation situations.

Clinical note: Use the appropriate setting for your technique, GP material and canal anatomy.

Three injection speeds

Best for: Fine control of gutta-percha delivery.

Clinical note: Slower injection can be helpful when precision matters; faster injection may suit larger spaces.

360° rotatable injection needle

Best for: Improving access and hand positioning.

Clinical note: Useful when trying to maintain a comfortable approach angle during backfill.

Dual-button design

Best for: Easier operation from different hand positions.

Clinical note: Helps make injection more comfortable during longer or repeated obturation procedures.

Clinical applications

  • Warm vertical obturation: backfilling after downpack.
  • Injectable gutta-percha workflows: controlled electric GP placement.
  • Endodontic backfill: filling the coronal and middle thirds after apical control.
  • Complex canals: useful where controlled warm GP placement is preferred.
  • General endodontics: suitable for clinicians adopting warm obturation techniques.
  • Specialist endodontic workflows: pairs well with a dedicated downpack device.

Who is the Fi-E best for?

  • Clinicians using warm vertical obturation
  • Dentists wanting an electric GP injector
  • Endodontic-focused practices
  • Clinicians using Fi-P or another downpack device
  • Practices wanting a cordless backfill solution
  • Users who want adjustable temperature and speed control

Fi-E and Fi-P: how they work together

The Fi-E is the backfill injector. It is commonly paired with a downpack heat device such as the Woodpecker Fi-P. In a warm vertical obturation workflow, the downpack device is used first to create the apical seal and compact the apical GP; the Fi-E is then used to inject warm gutta-percha into the remaining canal space.

Fi-P heat device

Role: Downpack and apical compaction.

Clinical note: Used to soften, cut and compact gutta-percha apically.

Fi-E injector

Role: Warm gutta-percha backfill.

Clinical note: Used after downpack to fill the remaining canal space with heated GP.

Available options

Fi-E Black

Best for: Clinicians wanting the Fi-E injector in a black finish.

Clinical note: Same core obturation function, with a different colour option.

Fi-E White

Best for: Clinicians wanting the Fi-E injector in a white finish.

Clinical note: Same core obturation function, with a clean white finish.

Important clinical note

Warm gutta-percha obturation is technique-sensitive. Use the correct canal preparation, cone fit, sealer strategy, downpack technique, injection temperature and injection speed for each case.

Avoid overfilling by maintaining appropriate working length control, apical stop strategy and radiographic verification. Always follow manufacturer instructions and local clinical protocols.

The Woodpecker Fi-E is an electric obturation injector used to heat and inject gutta-percha during root canal obturation, particularly for backfill after downpack.

What is the temperature range of the Fi-E?

The Fi-E temperature can be adjusted from 100°C to 200°C.

How many injection speeds does the Fi-E have?

The Fi-E has three injection speeds, allowing clinicians to adjust gutta-percha delivery according to the clinical situation.

Does the Fi-E have a rotatable injection needle?

Yes. The Fi-E has a 360° rotatable injection needle, helping improve access and hand positioning during obturation.

How many batteries are supplied?

The Fi-E is supplied with two 2000 mAh batteries.

How many tips are included?

The Fi-E comes with 4 free tips.

Is the Fi-E the same as the Fi-P?

No. The Fi-P is a heat/downpack device, while the Fi-E is an electric gutta-percha injector for backfill. Many clinicians use them together as part of a warm vertical obturation workflow.

Can the Fi-E be used for warm vertical obturation?

Yes. The Fi-E is used for the backfill phase of warm vertical obturation after apical downpack has been completed with a suitable heat device.

What colours are available?

The Toothsaver page currently lists Fi-E Black and Fi-E White options.
