Dental Wedge Series for Restorative Dentistry
The Dental Wedge Series gives clinicians a choice of restorative wedges for matrix adaptation, gingival seal, interproximal separation and protection during Class II composite restorations.
Choose from integrated matrix and wedge options, WedgeGuard variants, silicone clearance wedges and plastic wedges in multiple sizes for different restorative situations.
Class II Restorations
Designed for matrix adaptation and cervical seal during posterior composite placement.
Multiple Wedge Types
Integrated wedges, WedgeGuards, silicone clearance wedges and plastic wedges available.
Size Options
Small, medium, large and supersmall options depending on the selected wedge type.
Everyday Restorative Use
Useful for routine posterior restorations, proximal box sealing and matrix stabilisation.
Dental wedges for matrix adaptation and cervical seal
Dental wedges are an essential part of restorative dentistry. They help stabilise the matrix band, close the gingival margin, reduce composite overhangs and support contact point formation in Class II restorations.
A wedge should be selected according to the interproximal space, tooth shape, cavity margin position and matrix system being used. This Dental Wedge Series gives clinicians multiple options for different clinical situations.
The range includes integrated matrix and wedge options, WedgeGuard variants, silicone clearance wedges and plastic wedges.
Toothsaver clinician view
Wedge selection is often underestimated. The wedge is not just there to hold the matrix in place; it affects the cervical seal, contact point, proximal contour and risk of overhangs. Having several wedge designs is useful because a wedge that works well in a wide molar embrasure may not be ideal for a tight premolar contact or a small anterior cavity.
Available wedge options
Please select the wedge type required from the dropdown menu. The current product page includes the following options.
50 pcs per box
Integrated Matrix & Wedge
Available in large, medium and small sizes. Designed as an integrated restorative solution for matrix and wedge workflows.
50 pcs per box
WedgeGuard
Available in purple large, orange medium and green small. Useful where interproximal protection or controlled proximal preparation is required.
20 pcs per box
Silicone Clearance Wedge
Hollow “8” appearance with high elasticity. Designed to be placed easily into diastemas and used to fix resin matrix bands, especially for smaller anterior cavities.
100 pcs per box
Plastic Wedges
Plastic wedges with a round stem and hole. Available in purple large, yellow medium, green small and blue supersmall.
Integrated matrix and wedge sizes
The integrated matrix and wedge option is supplied in boxes of 50 and is available in three sizes.
| Variant | Code | Size | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large | PW05L | 19.5 × 6.7 mm | Larger posterior spaces and molar restorations. |
| Medium | PW05M | 17.6 × 6.8 mm | Routine posterior restorative cases. |
| Small | PW05S | 15.6 × 6.8 mm | Smaller proximal spaces and premolar restorations. |
WedgeGuard options
WedgeGuards are supplied in boxes of 50 and are available in three colour-coded sizes.
Large WedgeGuard option for wider interproximal spaces.
Medium WedgeGuard option for routine restorative use.
Small WedgeGuard option for tighter spaces and smaller teeth.
Plastic wedge options
Plastic wedges are supplied in boxes of 100. They are available in four colour-coded sizes, including a supersmall option for very tight interproximal spaces.
Large plastic wedge for wider posterior embrasures.
Medium plastic wedge for routine restorative cases.
Small plastic wedge for tighter spaces and smaller cavities.
Supersmall plastic wedge for very narrow interproximal spaces.
Silicone clearance wedge
The silicone clearance wedge is supplied in boxes of 20. It has an “8” appearance, hollow design and high elasticity, allowing it to be placed into small spaces and diastemas.
It is designed to help fix resin matrix bands and is particularly useful for smaller anterior cavity repairs where flexible adaptation is required.
Choosing the right wedge
Select the wedge according to the tooth, interproximal space, matrix type and cavity margin. A well-selected wedge helps stabilise the matrix, close the cervical margin and reduce the risk of overhangs.
Clinical applications
The Dental Wedge Series is suitable for a range of restorative procedures, including:
- Class II composite restorations
- Posterior proximal box restorations
- Premolar and molar restorations
- Matrix band stabilisation
- Cervical margin sealing
- Reducing composite overhangs
- Supporting contact point formation
- Anterior resin matrix band stabilisation with silicone clearance wedges
- Protection during interproximal preparation using WedgeGuard variants
Why dental wedge selection matters
A poorly selected wedge may fail to seal the gingival margin, distort the matrix, open the contact incorrectly or allow excess composite to escape cervically.
A correctly selected wedge helps the matrix sit closely against the tooth, supports the proximal contour and improves the clinician’s control during restoration.
Clinical note
Always check wedge fit, matrix adaptation and cervical seal before bonding and composite placement. The wedge should stabilise the matrix without excessively distorting the band or damaging the papilla.
How to use dental wedges effectively
Choose the wedge according to the interproximal space and cavity margin position.
Position the matrix band and confirm that it is correctly seated around the proximal box.
Seat the wedge carefully to stabilise the band and close the gingival margin.
Confirm cervical seal, matrix contour and contact area before adhesive and composite placement.
Why buy dental wedges from Toothsaver?
Toothsaver is an independent, clinician-led dental store founded by Dr Daniel Flynn. We are different from standard dental e-commerce stores because products are selected for clinical usefulness, not manufacturer pressure.
This Dental Wedge Series is listed because restorative dentistry often requires more than one wedge design. Having integrated wedges, WedgeGuards, silicone clearance wedges and plastic wedges available allows clinicians to choose the right option for the case rather than forcing one wedge to fit every situation.
The Toothsaver difference
- Clinician-led product selection
- Independent recommendations
- Products chosen for practical restorative value
- Customer-first pricing
- Support from a dental team that understands restorative workflows
