Manufactured by Komet, the CeraTip is a ceramic bur designed for mucosal surgery and gingival (gum) treatments. These burs last for a very long time.
Purpose: It serves as a modern alternative to scalpels or electrosurgery for procedures like gingivectomies, exposing implants, and removing hyperplastic gingiva.
- Key Feature: When used at high speeds (300,000–450,000 rpm) without water cooling, it generates friction heat that causes thermal coagulation, effectively sealing blood vessels as it cuts to minimize bleeding.
- Composition: It is made from a durable mixed ceramic of zirconia and aluminum oxide.
